Stags Leap Wine Cellars begins its story with the Fay vineyard, established by pioneering grape grower Nathan Fay in 1961, it was the first planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in what is now the Stags Leap District. They then earned world wide recognition when the S.L.V., also known as Stags Leap Vineyards, 1973 vintage bested some of Frances greatest wines in the 1976 tasting Judgment of Paris. Both the Fay and S.L.V. lend their strength to the Artemis.Artemis is named after the Greek goddess of the hunt which reflects the search for the best sites in Napa Valley which, when blended with the estate fruit, is truly legendary. The 2018 is a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec aged for sixteen months in 43% new oak (38% French, 5% American) with the balance in older French and American oak.
